Can you help identifying a sketch & a watercolor painting?

My wife and I recently bought two small pieces of artwork that we love, but cannot for the life of us decipher the signature on the pieces.  Can anyone help us identify the artists, so that we can find out more about them?

The first is a pencil sketch that we purchased in a random market in Bologna, Italy.   

The second is a watercolor (and ink) piece that we picked up in an antique shop in Atlanta.
